Aromatic Herbs

Breath Sweeteners:
Angelic root - Suck on whole cloves
Anise seed is chewed slowly
Cardamom seeds for strong odors
Calandos root
Dried ores root (Florentine iris) is sweet
Nutmeg to chew on
Pomanders: (in closets, drawers, and car)
Push whole cloves into a nice, firm orange, lemon, lime or apple.
Then roll in ground spices and ground ores root, the fixative
Then set aside to air dry for about four weeks.
(Ground spices are cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and ginger).
Roll in once a day until dry.
Potpourris and Sachets: (are powder mixture of broken pieces of herbs, spices and flowers)
Cut and collect herbs on a dry morning after the dew is dried.
Cut or pull off the good flowers petals
Lay them in a shallow layer on a clean cloth to dry
Dry away from light in a airy place, stirring the petals several times.
Cut herbs to the ground and take a bunch and tie securely
Label and hand on a warm, airy, dry location to dry out.
When they become crumbly, strip leaves from the stems
Dry citrus peel, scraping off al the fruit and pulp from the inner skin
Break in small pieces and dry in warm place until brittle
Use a large wooden spoon to stir together all dried ingredients
Pour into a large wide mouth jar, cover tightly and place in a cool dark space for several months.
Once a week remove the cap and stir, and then you can make your sachets for a potpourri.
A sachet is created by grinding the mixture to powder and putting into small pillows.
Combinations are:
Herb Garden Love Potion Manly Scent Rose - lilac
2 cups of thyme 3 oz. violet 2 cups lemon balm 3 cups rose petals
1 cup rosemary 1 oz ores root 1 cup thyme 2 cups lilac
1/2 cup lavender 1 oz. rose leaf 1 cup nutmeg 2 cups marjoram
1 cup mint 1 oz. rose petal 1/2 ores root 1 oz. ores root
1/4 cup tansy 1 oz. Tonka bean
1/4 cup clove
1/2 oz. ores root
Sleep Potion Tangy Orange
3 cups spearmint 2 cups orange peel 1 oz. spearmint
3 cups rose leaves 1 cup lemon peel 1 oz. ores root
1 cup cloves 1/2 cup orange leaves 1/2 cup cinnamon
1 oz. ores root 1/2 cup lemon leaves 1/2 cup nutmeg
