Do you ever feel different; never seeming to fit in? Just couldn’t seem to be like every body else? Maybe you’re not embracing your individuality. The fact is there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to worshipping. You do not bring glory to the Father by trying to be someone He never intended you to be.
I have learned there are 9 different styles to worship, fitting different personalities:
1. Naturalist = are most inspired to love G-d out-of-doors, in natural settings.
2. Sensitive = love G-d with their senses and appreciate beautiful worship services that involve their sight, taste, smell, and touch, not just their ears.
3. Traditionalists = draw closer to G-d through rituals, liturgies, symbols, and unchanging structure.
4. Aesthetics = prefer to love G-d in solitude and simplicity.
5. Activists = love G-d through confronting evil, battling injustice, and working to make the world a better place.
6. Caregivers = love G-d by loving others and meeting their needs.
7. Enthusiastic = love G-d through celebration.
8. Contemplatives = love G-d through adoration.
9. Intellectuals = love G-d by studying with their minds.
Some people are fund builders that like to make crafts to raise money.
Some are cookie people that like to do the baking and being in the kitchen.
Some are church builders and like to contribute to the building fund.
Some are nursery people and like to help out with the children.
Some are cleaners that like to keep G-d’s house sparkling.
Some are sponges that need to sit and absorb.
Some are hospitality people that like to entertain.
Some are leaders, teachers, evangelist, prophets, and ministers.
But we are all servants working where we are best suited for worship none better than the other for we fit into His great tapestry.
At one time or another you can fit in all of these styles, but one category will be your strongest point. Being different is not a bad thing - it is called individuality! So enjoy intimacy with the Father whether being outdoors, studying, singing, reading, dancing, creating art, serving others, insolitude, enjoying fellowship, or participating in dozens of other activities.
Isn’t individuality great! You are a child of the King! So be all that the Father intended YOU to be. And in all the things you do - do them joyfully unto the Father, for everything you do is a form of worship. You have no agenda but to love and worship Him.
