Senselss Destruction

The economic damage caused far greater than the money they will take.
There’s the destruction of natural habitats, sadistic murder of plants
This included everything from the masked villian slicing blades of grass in half to disfiguring flowering trees and watching them slowly die to stapling shut a venus fly trap and watching it starve, wouldn’t work unless the venus fly trap were potted in such poor soil that it actually needed the extra nutrients from insects to survive.
The affront is not to a specific plant but to nature, to beauty, and to that part of us that appreciates beauty. And that rejection of beauty, humanity, and collective responsibility is something ugly and something people should be offended by.
We have laws against animal cruelty. Confined feeding operations, slaughter house practices, and animal transportation are about as abhorent as you can get—but few people change their diet because of this.
There are indanger speicies on land and in the water, senseless taking just for the sport of it. There was a time when hunters hunted to feed their familys not to just hang it on the wall for display.
Gen. 1:11-12 And G-d said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and G-d saw that it was good.
So why do we try to make a better improved seed? All new technology is not good; you can not improve G-d’s handiwork.
Some would argue that this is an example of our moral inclinations misfiring.
Similarly, people tend to think of terrorism as a greater threat than our land and food, or automobile accidents despite, for example, facts. Usually this estimation tool saves time and yields approximate results, but sometimes it misfires.
It’s not about keeping something exactly how we found it. It’s also not about destroying it completely. And it’s not about doing whatever we feel like doing with it to get out our jollies. It is about taking care of the earth—but doing so in a beautiful way. And we may disagree on what that is. In some cases, it means hands off. Let the untouched remain untouched. In other cases, it means gardening. Careful cultivation.
It means treating the earth and objects that derive from the earth with respect and dare I say reverence. We will and should disagree on how that reverence manifested itself.
Then there is sensless destruction of ourselfs. We do not take care of our own bodies in getting enough sleep or eating the right way. We do not take the time to read G-d’s Word that gives us all the instuctions on how to live our lifes. No wonder we are not a G-d fearing nation anymore!
We have become a fast pace generation, wanting more and more and giving little back. Never satisfied, needing the bigger and better improved models. We all have more material things than needed. There is a differnce between wants and needs.
Can we get back to the basics? I sure hope so, if not G-d will allow distruction.
Let’s revamp our priorities!
