Dark Sayings of Old

[Ps. 78:1] Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
[2] I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
A reference to the Song of Moses appears – in this 30th psalm following the birth of Israel in Psalm 48. In Jewish custom, the age of 30 represents full maturity. The Song of Moses is alluded to in Psalm 49 just after the birth of the nation and again in Psalm 78 when the nation reaches full maturity at age 30. Psalm 78 appears to be a guidepost along the way that leads to the conclusion of the prophecies in the rest of the Song of Moses (Psalms 90-100).
The Temple Scroll was among the first eight scrolls found in the Qumran cave in 1947, but was hidden away by its Arab owner. It was recovered in 1967, turn over to Yigael Yadin, son of Professor Suenek (the man who bought the first set of scrolls in 1947). The Temple Scroll was carefully preserved and studied over the next 10 years. A Hebrew commentary was published in 1978. Could that be why a reference is given in Psalm 78 about dark saying of old? The Temple Scroll contains information for the establishment of Temple worship, and fits perfectly the modern Leviticus Period, which began in 1973, corresponding with the Leviticus Psalms.
[4] We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
[6] That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
What generation would have the dark sayings open up? The answer lies in the birth of the nation of Israel in 1948. That must surely be the generation referred to here. May we also remember that Y’Shua said, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled in Matt. 24:34.
On the political front, negotiations with Egypt continued throughout 1978. they were long and difficult. It seemed at times there would be no peace. It was such an important year for Israel’s talks with Egypt that it seems, in Psalms 78, that the L-rd spent a full seventy-two verses on the subject.
[12] Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
As G-d performed those great miracles of the past, so it was in 1978. Israel had the opportunity to be part of another miracle – a modern miracle! The message seemed to be, “Don’t miss this chance. Don’t turn your backs on what G-d is doing for you in 1978.
[60] So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;
The goal of this generation should be to restore Temple worship. The prophetic admonition seems to be for Israel not to jeopardize the future by refusing peace with Egypt.
[62] He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.
On March 11, 1978, Arab terrorists infiltrated from the sea. They commandeer a passenger laden bus and sped along the Haifa-Tel Aviv highway shooting and killing at random. Then they exploded the vehicle. In all, thirty-seven Israelis were murdered and eighty two wounded. Four days later Israel began Operation Litani. Israeli Defense Forces swept into Southern Lebanon and cleared a narrow zig-zag security belt driving out PLO terrorist. Up to that time Palestinian guerrillas had been within sight of Northern Israeli villages and made life miserable along the border. Also, Golda Meir died at the age of 80 in December, 1978.
