[Deut. 24:1] When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
[She find no favour in his eyes - It appears that the practice of divorces was at this early period very widespread amongst the Israelites, who had in all probability become familiar with it in Egypt. The usage, being too deep-rooted to be soon or easily abolished, was tolerated by Moses (Matt. 19:8). But it was accompanied under the law with two conditions, which were calculated greatly to prevent the evils incident to the permitted system; namely:
(1) The act of divorcement was to be certified on a written document, the preparation of which, with legal formality, would afford time for reflection and repentance; and
(2) In the event of the divorced wife being married to another husband, she could not, on the termination of that second marriage, be restored to her first husband, however desirous he might be to receive her.]
[2] And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.
[3] And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;
[Positive Law # 579 it was a command of the L-rd for a man who divorced his wife to do so in accordance with the Torah by giving her a bill of written divorce. This is called a get and is described in great detail in ancient and modern Jewish writings in the section tractate known as Gittin. This must be done in the presence of two witnesses. In ancient times only the man could divorce the woman. In such cases the woman could go before the Bet Din and the judges would force the man to give her a divorce in cases where she was deserving of the divorce. Around the third century C.E. women were given the right to originate the divorce.
Although there are several biblical reasons for divorce, few people investigate them. The simplest rule is that a divorce is only biblical when the circumstances of living with an individual cause one to break any of the 613 commands while living together. The most obvious of these would include such sins as incest or continued physical abuse by one partner, where a divorce would obviously be the better choice.]
[4] Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the L-RD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the L-RD thy G-d giveth thee for an inheritance.
[Negative Law # 580 it was forbidden for a man to remarry an ex-wife, it she had remarried and was divorced or widowed. The penalty for this was lashes. The woman who divorced and remarried in ancient times, because their customs were different, was considered defiled as far as her former husband was concerned, but not toward her new husband. The word defiled as used here refers to that which was in that day illegal.]
[Matt. 5:3] The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
[The definition of the term sin (transgressions) is the breaking of one of the 613 Laws of G-d (1 Jn. 3:4). This text was not a general statement on divorce and should accurately be used to teach on the subject, from the school of Hallel and Shammai. Hallel believed in any reason was the Shammai said only if unclean. But they argued what was unclean – just because they weren’t pretty enough. Y’Shua is giving them a balance between the two. Although divorce was not G-d’s best, it was not a sin either. The popular reference in Malachi 2:16 – is not a general statement concerning divorce, but speaking out against a pacific type of divorce.
G-d hates divorce is not in the original, and does not line up with any other text. In the original it said “if he hates her, than put her away). Like Jeremiah 3:8. Deuteronomy 24 – was written for two reasons:
(1.)The woman’s security from not being taken care of, and being killed.
(2.)The license to remarry: In the first century if the husband was taken captive and the wife had no way of support she could remarry. Then if he escapes and comes home, she was obligated to go back to the first husband even if she had kids with the second. Not all husbands were good to another man’s children. The only reason then to divorce was to remarry. The reason the people in Ezra 10 were commanded to divorce was because the women were causing the men to transgress several other of the 613 Laws. During the time of Henry the 8th, he keep killing his wife’s off, out of this the church of Episcopal evolved out of the controversy about divorce allowing him to divorce and remarry one to give him an heir to the throne.]
[7] They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
[Why – for breaking any of the 613 Laws constantly. The people were killing their mates in the first century to remarry pagan women. Even Solomon built temples to his heathen wives. The laws of the land said to say verbally “divorce divorce divorce” to put the wife away, then if she remarried she was put to death but not the new husband. Y’Shua was making it safe and secure for the woman by putting it in writing. To divorce and remarry the same man was forbidden in abusive situation.]
[31]It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
[32] But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
[Putting away and divorce are different Hebrew and Greek words:
1. Apollo = putting away (sent away).
2. Greek, apostasion = divorce (written document).
Kerithuth –Hebrew, divorce found four times: Deut. 24:1, 3; Isa. 51:1; Jer. 3:8 and Mat. 5:32.
Apoluotasis = putting away by law. According to the laws of the pagan world in the O.T. and the Greco-Roman world of the N.T. one could divorce another by simply putting away the wife leaving with her the Dailey. The difference in G-d’s Law is that it requires a margin of error giving a legal document so she’d be taken care of and remarries.
This verse should read = “whosoever shall marry her that is put away commits adultery.” The Jewish phrase that Y’Shua used = except for the cause of fornication goes back to the Law in Deut. 22:13-19. Perfecting the virgin who was wrongfully accused, she had to be a virgin. The sheets of the first night of marriage were called the token of her virginity (Deut. 22:13-19). She was to fold them up and keep them as evidence of her virginity. According to the Scriptures divorce is not a sin, but it is not the will of G-d (Deut. 24:1-2; Mark 10:2).
A woman could get a divorce for: a man not meeting her sexual needs by refusing, impotent, sexual disease, a tanner (collecting dog manure) Acts 10:32 unfaithful, and cruel to her.]
[19:9] And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
[The idea was fornication was only biblical reason for divorce came from a lack of understanding of the Jewish Law found in Deut. 24:1-3. A man that was paying for a virgin would take the sheets to the judges to prove she was not a virgin. If she was a virgin it was the custom of the wife to give her mother the sheets for safekeeping, incase she was ever excused.]
[Mk. 10:11] And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
[It is adultery against the wife he puts away, a wrong to her, and a breach of his contract with her.
Y’Shua was asked to give a ruling on a point of Law that was debated in the Jewish schools. In Deuteronomy 24:1-4 there is a Law which says in effect, ‘When a man divorces his wife because he has found ‘some indecency’ in her, and she is then married to someone else who divorcers her in his turn, her former husband may not take her back to be his wife again.’ This Law, forbidding a man who has divorced his wife to marry her again after she has lived with a second husband, does not lay down the procedure for divorce; it assumes this procedure as already in being.
The interpreters of the Law around the time of our L-rd, who were concerned not only with deciding what it meant but with applying it to contemporary life were asking: might be indicated by this ‘indecency’ or unseemliness which justified a man in divorcing his wife?
There were two main schools of thought: one that interpreted it stringently, another that interpreted it more broadly. The former school, which followed the direction of Shammai, a leading rabbi who lived a generation or so before Y’Shua, said that a man was authorized to divorce his wife if he married her on the understanding that she was a virgin and then discovered that she was not. There was, in fact, an enactment covering this eventuality in the Law of Deut. 22:13-21, and the consequences could be very serious for the bride if the evidence was interpreted to mean that she had had illicit sexual relations before marriage. This, then, was one school’s understanding of ‘some indecency.’
The other school, following he lead of Shammai’s contemporary Hillel, held that ‘some indecency’ might include more or less anything, which her husband found offensive. She could cease to ‘find favour in his eyes’ for a variety of reasons – if she served up badly cooked food, for example, or even because he found her less beautiful than some other women. It should be emphasized that the rabbis who gave these ‘liberal’ interpretations were not moved by a desire to make divorce easy: they were concerned to state what they believed to be the meaning of a particular scripture.
It was against this background that Y’Shua was invited to say what He thought. In Matthew’s 19:3, account of the incident, they asked Him, ‘Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause? If His answer was ‘Yes,’ they would want to know for what cause or causes, in His judgment, divorce was permissible. He gave them His answer and then, in private, expanded it for the benefit of His disciples who had heard it.
He bypassed the traditional interpretation of the rabbinical schools and appealed to the scriptures, ‘What did Moses command you?’ (Deut. 24:1-4) Because of the hardness of your heart that Moses allowed divorce. As with the Sabbath Law so with the marriage Law, He went back to first principles. ‘From the beginning of creation G-d made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one.’ So they are no longer two but one. What therefore G-d has joined together, let not man put asunder in 10:2-9. Nan is not given any authority to modify that ordinance.
Y’Shua reminds them of the biblical account of the institution of marriage. The marriage Law must conform with the purpose for which marriage was instituted by G-d. It was instituted to create a new unity of two persons, and no provision was made for the dissolving of that unity. Y’Shua does not idealize marriage. He does not say that every marriage is made in heaven; He says that marriage itself is made in heaven that is instituted by G-d. To the question, is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife the answer is No; not for any cause.
There is a feature of Y’Shua’s answer to the Pharisees, which could easily be overlooked. The stringent interpretation of the school of Shammai and the liberal interpretation of the school of Hillel were both given from the husband’s point of view. In the stringent interpretation it was the bride’s virginity that had to be above suspicion; the bridegroom’s chastity before marriage did not enter into the picture. As for the liberal interpretation, it was liberal in the husband’s interest, in that it permitted him to divorce his wife for a variety of reasons; so far as the wife’s interest was concerned, it was most illiberal, for she had little opportunity of redress if her husband decided to divorce her within the meaning of the Law as liberally interpreted. What was true of these interpretations was true of the original legislation, which they undertook to expound: it was because of the hardness of men’s hearts that divorce was conceded. The Law was unequally balanced to the disadvantage of women, and Y’Shua’s ruling, with its appeal to the Creator’s intention, had the effect of redressing the unequal balance. It is not surprising that women regularly recognized in Y’Shua one who was their friend and champion.]
[12] And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she
committeth adultery.
[Matthew 19:1-12 and Luke 9:51. Elope from him, leave him by consent; to marry another, she commits adultery.
This is a situation not contemplated in the OT Law, which made no provision for a wife to divorce her husband and marry another man. It has therefore been thought that this second statement is a corollary added to Y’Shua’s original ruling when Messianic had made its way into the Gentile World. In a number of Gentile law-codes it was possible for a wife to initiate divorce proceedings, as it was not under Jewish Law. But at the time when Y’Shua spoke there was a recent cause cerebra in His own country, to which He could well have referred.
Less than ten years before, Herodias, a granddaughter of Herod the Great, who had been married to her uncle Herod Philip and lived with him in Rome, fell in love with another uncle, Herod Antipas, tetrarch of Galilee and Perea, when he paid a visit to Rome. In order to marry Antipas she divorced her first husband. She did so under Roman law, since she was a Roman citizen. For a women to marry her uncle was not a breach of Jewish Law, as it was commonly interpreted at that time, but it was certainly a breach of Jewish Law for her to marry her husband’s brother. Herod Antipas imprisoned John the Baptist for insisting that it was unlawful for him to be married to his brother’s wife. Y’Shua named no names, but any reference at that time, either in Galilee or in Perea, to a woman divorcing her husband and marrying someone else was bound to make hearers think of Herodias. If the suggestion that she was living in adultery came to her ears, Y’Shua would incur her mortal resentment as surely as John the Baptist had done.
In Matthew’s 19:9 version of this interchange, Y’Shua’s ruling is amplified by the addition of a few words: ‘except for unchastely’. The same exception appears in another occurrence of His ruling in this Gospel, in the Sermon on the Mount, also appears in Luke 16:18.]
Overcomer
Father, I actually made it!! I can’t believe it, I have become an overcomer! This was truly the hardest thing I had ever done! So while it is yet fresh in my mind I had better write it down. It had taken me three months to overcome a lifetime addiction. It was time to sink or swim!
I would start and stop, which put me right back to having to start over with all the withdrawal symptoms. Seemed to be a love hate thing going on here and I was not sure which way I truly wanted to fly.
I stayed pretty much alone but was so crabby I could not stand my self! “Now if I am doing this for my Father, I should have a better attitude,” so I willed my self to be pleasant or at least quiet.
They say if you can go three days straight the nicotine is out of the body and all you have to deal with is the head. In between all this I had a lot of physical pain, vomiting, loss of brainpower, could not think straight.
Taking to my bed I tried to sleep my life away. I found it fairly easy to seep forever, you just get up to relieve yourself, puke, and if hungry pop in a slice of cheese and go back to never-never land. Time passed much faster and I did not have the desire to smoke. But like all good things this must come to an end for I had to drive my son to work every now and then.
While I avoided talking on the phone, I could sit there for hours and listen to others talk. Didn’t feel like doing much cooking, and couldn’t concentrate for studying, so life was pretty bleak.
I did not say “I am quitting smoking”, for I hate failing, but I did say “I choose not to smoke for now.” It started an hour at a time, then worked its way to two hours. I could only make choices for now for tomorrow was not here yet and today was all I could handle. I would slip here and there, crying out for the Father to not give up on me.
The deal was to be free by the time my birthday came, but I was not. All bets were off – but I did not want to throw the towel in just yet. So “I yelled out “Father don’t let me give up on me!”
For what I learned was during the three months my habits were changing. I went from a 3 pack a day down to 1 pack, down to ½ pack until I bought no more. I could also now eat, talk on the phone, go to the bathroom, just basic functioning without having to smoke.
The hardest was what do non-smokers do with their free time of relaxation? Well I either keep busy or learn to twiddle my thumbs.
I found I had a hard time breathing, and became house bound. I also noticed I could not walk very far, and had become very lazy and spoiled just lying around.
Five times in these three long miserable months, I did break down and buy cigarettes. After all I deserved a reward for all my efforts, didn’t I? Hey and guess what?! I could breathe perfectly! I did not have that pressure sitting on my lungs rocking. My brain returned to the body and I could think again. Well, well, well what do you know about that – breathe and please the adversary or return panting for the L-rd? I do hate choices in life! But I decided death has no hold on me, absence from the body is present with the
L-rd. Guess childhood had prepared me well to handle pain, and I have come too far to turn back now.
With all five of the packs (purchased at different times) I would only get to enjoy ½ of it and then would tear the remainder up, one cigarette at a time “one for the Father, one for the Son, and one for the Holy Spirit, the Three in One.”
I was so busy taking it moment by moment, and day by day, that time got away from me.
No one noticed I had become free! Wow that amazes me, but then also shows that people are so set up in their own lives that if it doesn’t affect them it doesn’t bother them.
I was fighting such a minute-by-minute battle that I did not notice the time fly by, until the Father asked me when I had my last fix. WOW! I am not saying I am there, nor that I have arrived, but I am saying for the time being I am free from this bondages! Even starting to notice I smell better lately.
Were is the fruit of all this? What is to become of it? I do not know, but I know what my Father said years ago and if He is the same today as He was yesterday, bigger and better things are heading my way. But I must say even if it does not come down like this – it was time and I did it for Him. To Him be the glory of each breath of life I have left to take.
“You have walked a hard rock path, my Child. You slipped and fell, but you never once took your eyes off of Me. You kept coming, though you felt alone. Sometimes I had to hold you for you grew weary and tired; sometimes I had to bandage up all the wounds you accumulated along the pits of life; and sometimes I had to just mop up the all blood that keep pouring out of you.
To you that overcometh I will give the tree of life to eat. And you will not be hurt in the second death. I had hidden manna to feed you when you were hungry, and clothed you in white raiment as I confess your name before My Angels. You have kept My words unto the end, and I will give you power over the nations.
One day you will be like a pillar in My Temple and you shall go out no more, giving you My new name and we shall always be together for eternity.
I have said that one who overcometh will be granted to sit with Me on My throne, even as I also overcame, and have set down with My Father on His throne.
You will inherit all things, and I will be your G-d and you will be my daughter!
But until then My child, the game is not over for I have a lot of work for you to do, and you will do it in the fullness of your calling, carrying My authority and My power. For you are to be My Messenger with healing on your wings. Expect signs, and wonders to follow you for you will walk in My atmosphere bringing down heaven as you walk with the band of angels that were assigned to you from the pit you overcame.

Shattered Glass
“You know Father I have never been afraid of dying, a wish You have denied me for years. You said I needed to know love first, guess I will be around for a very long time. No easy way out for this warrior, but then I couldn’t learn the lessons in life if I don’t walk through them.”
“Watch where you are going and remember where you have been so that you may walk others through,” He replied.
Father, You know what’s wrong with the world today. They have replaced Your Laws with the laws of man. People have allowed that pantywaist man to kick them around, and that includes me. And if I must climb out of his pit, he had best leave town. There is fire in my eyes for having been so gullible to fall in the pit. Well, I figured out if life is worth living and meant to be enjoyed, and then it should be in the fullness so let the games begin.
L-rd, I feel so all alone, my knuckles are bloody, my knees are scraped up, and my stomach is churning, but I am tying myself to the two-edged sword to keep from sliding backwards.
I am taking a break to catch my breath and straighten out this bent, sore back from climbing. You said not to look back, but I am glancing down to see how far I have come. Father, it is so dark and gloomy that I can’t even tell if I am making any progress. I feel like I am ten feet tall stuck in a six-foot hole without much to hang on to, meaning the hole is closing in on me.
The band of angels You have sent to camp around me - Mercy, Compassion, Wisdom, Shalom, Truth, Justice and Fire - have become my own little army, or have I joined theirs?
Seems like I’ve become the general and they are doing my bidding as they ascend and descend back to You. Truth has been my constant companion blocking the words of the adversary. No rest for this army; I keep them very busy. Once I get totally free there will be much more to do.
This glass vessel is not only broken, but it appears to be shattered – are You sure You can repair me, L-rd?
The higher I climb the tougher it gets; I am now crawling towards the Light. It has been a long night; days seem to pass without morning coming.
I know that whom the Son has set free is free indeed.
Concentrate little warrior on the eternal Light, I tell myself. Self-answered: Don’t rest so long for you’re on slippery ground, call out to Mercy to extend His hand. Now I am talking to myself and answering!
L-rd cut me some slack!! I cried out. Just then Mercy took a firm hold of my hand.
Another evening has passed and I am pretty bruised up. Truth keeps reminding me why I am doing this. I cannot seem to think anymore, do all non-smokers go blank?
Compassion has a soft quiet voice and he keeps cooing to me. I have no idea what he is saying, but find comfort in the sound of his voice and Shalom’s presence has put me to rest.
Wisdom has left this little body, I see him at a distance. I think I must make it to him before he will rejoin our group again - maybe as an incentive to keep going on, like dangling a carrot in front of me.
Justice will prevail. He encourages me to keep moving onward and upward to take back what was rightfully mine! It is no longer ‘IF’ I get out of this pit, but ‘WHEN’ I get out.
Fire is burning stronger and stronger in my eyes. On the topside we will have a lot of stomping to do! No longer will I be afraid to call a spade a spade, and have the fear of man! This warrior will be marching forward and onward.
Whom the Son has set free is free indeed.
Discernment has joined our band, helping me to discern the thoughts that keep running through my head. A large mass of voices that are all mingled together are slowly being weeded out. Failure is not part of my vocabulary anymore, for I have come to far too turn back now.
I have become an open porthole to the Father, though mightily worn out and quite dirty. I make frequent appearances in the Throne Room to get repaired and restored. One touch of His scepter and a taste of His nectar and I am refreshed to carry on.
Whom the Son has set free is free indeed.
Woo - woo – I can see a ray of sunlight, morning is on its way! I am coming out! Joy comes in the morning making long nights worth it.
Watch out! This warrior is no baby! The price has been paid. She has been stamped approved. The mighty warrior has broken through!!
Whom the Son has set free is free indeed.
Holy wars to be fought and battles to be won for the Father’s work will never be completely done. Want to be on the winning side? Sign up today! Freedom is our banner as this angelic band goes over the land. For He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. Justice shall prevail, for we are taking back our land!
This shattered glass vessel has been crushed and stomped on. But the Father is gathering up the glass slivers to create a beautiful mosaic vessel with many brilliant facets, and adding some precious stones. Now I am strong enough to go the rest of the distance and enjoy life to the fullness - all glory to the Father and the Son!
Have you fallen into a pit? Have you been broken and shattered? Are you willing to pay the price? He can turn you into a new vessel made with His own hands to be used mightily in His army.
Whom the Son has set free is free indeed!!
“Watch where you are going and remember where you have been so that you may walk others through,” He replied.

Dairy of a mad woman
While driving on a mission trip with my son and grandson, we went through 8 states, (Ill, Ind., Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Ontario, Mich., and Wisconsin). We drove way into the wee hours of the night.
Stay alert and awake, one must support their life long habits, so I opened the windows in the cool of the night to let the smoke roll out. Now I do believe you reap what you sow – and it seems especially that way when sowing bad seeds. By morning I was hacking and hacked my way though the rest of the day. I think I went just a bit too far and overdosed on tobacco. I have not coughed like that since I was seven years old just learning how to smoke. I am a slow learner, so it took me a week of puking out my guts before I learned not to swallow the smoke. Now I am three score years old; do you think it is time to get serious about quitting to become an over-comer?
During the course of this mission trip we traveled over a few too many high bridges. It’s amazing how one’s terror and fright becomes another’s amusement, as they look for a way to prolong it. Don’t people stop to wonder what caused the trauma to begin with?
Well, what it did for me was made me determined not to become another’s entertainment. Towards the end we were breezing over the high drop-off bridges without me giving them much thought, since I chose not let it bother me anymore and trust my care in the hands of the Father.
Maybe, just maybe, I have overcome the flashbacks of being held and swung over a trestle with rushing water flowing over mountains of sharp rocks below, threatened to be dropped if I did not submit to their whims. “Now I loved water, but it was those sharp rocks that told me I would be a goner”.
Lots of construction in all the states, start, stop, and roll a little. “Ok L-rd, You know patience is not even in my vocabulary.” “It is now!” He seemed to replay, “Relax and enjoy; it’s going to be a long ride if you don’t embrace it.”
Conversations came and conversations went. I enjoyed the silence as well as the interacting. This loner has grown! I learned when to speak and when to stay silent.
We saw all types of people, from many races with different customs. But if you look very closely they are not so different after all. All seem to have the same emotions, family, and friend connections. The Father just planted souls in different packages, but all of them belong to Him.
This road of life has many twists and turns, many hills and valleys. Liken unto all the construction, there is an ongoing vigilance of the driver required to avoid all the pitfalls. Some we fall into by ourselves and some we are pushed into.
Who has the control is the issue? Now I am getting mad!! I used to say, “I don’t get mad, but I do get even.” I am renewing my mind on this mission trip; taking the control back from the adversary and letting it go to the Father. I am tired of being blown around by any wind heading in my direction.
It’s a new day and there is a change in the atmosphere! This mad woman has come back to town and she is taking control of what has been broken or twisted. No more roller coaster rides for me. No more pits to be thrown into. This road is being paved into a smooth straight path. Whatever remaining scores of years that I have left are going to be enjoyable and relaxed.
You’re in the drivers seat – you can determine your destination. Take back what was stolen from you. Make better choices as you go down the path of life. If you lose your peace, go back to where you lost it and recapture it. Create your own atmosphere. What kind of air do you want to breathe? Want stress free – make it so!
“I’m scared L-rd!” I cried, “You know how I hate failing. I would rather not even try it if I am going to fail. Do You plan on putting me into a padded cell to bounce off the walls? This has been my best friend who was always there to get me through the tough times. It has helped me build up a high tolerance to pain. Ya, I know, I know it is a lie straight from the pit of hell – but I bought it hook line and sinker.
I told You to leave this as the last big pit to climb out – but we are getting closer to dealing with it now, huh?
I know You can, and do, use even one from a pit – but You said if I want to go further in my calling I must get out - or at least try.
I have been a victim; then a survivor; now a thriver – now I will T-R-Y one last attempt to become free. If You will, give me the mind set needed before I get to three score plus one. I am going to shoot past the sky as the limit, for the more You give the more I will want, and nothing is impossible with You!”
This next journey I must travel alone with You. Win, lose or draw I will be used of You – the question is to what degree do I wish to flow. Let this mad woman stay in the right frame of mind to kick the right butts.
Has this road trip accomplished all it was meant to? It certainly was far more than I bargained for.
Now I wait for the mindset before stepping out – “if You’re busy, feel free to take Your time.”

Unsavoury Advice
[Job 5:6] Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
[Unsavoury - tasteless, bland, salt is a chief necessary of life to an Easterner, whose food is mostly vegetables. As any sort of pulse, peas, beans, lentils… which have no savory and agreeable taste unless salted, and so many other things.
It need not seem strange that the wormwood and water of gall, or the bread of adversity and water of affliction.
Were you forced to eat unsavoury meats and you find the words and speeches of friends insipid and foolish talk, and very unsuitable and disagreeable to you? It was not being seasoned with the salt of prudence, grace, and goodness, (Colossians 4:6).
The white - literally, "spittle" (1 Sam. 21:13), which the white of an egg resembles, it is very forcefully used, since it useless in judging of different tastes, and mixed with food, goes into nourishment, as the white of an egg.
Some of the Jewish writers call it the spittle of soundness, or a sound man, which has no taste, in distinction from that of a sick man, which has. The whole is by some rendered, "is there any taste" or "savor in the spittle of a dream" or "drowsiness"? Such as flows from a person asleep, or in a dream; and so may fitly express the vain and empty words, as the Septuagint translate the phrase, of one’s friends, in one’s esteem, which to one were no than the words of some idle and dreaming person, or were like the dribble of a fool or madman.]
[7] The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.
[The things - The sense may be, those grievous afflictions, which you dreaded the very thought of, are now your daily, though sorrowful bread.
To touch - is contrasted with meat. Your taste refused even to touch it, and yet am you are fed with such meat of sickness. The natural taste dislike even to touch bland food and such forms your nourishment. For your sickness is like such nauseous food. (Ps 42:3; 80:5; 102:9).
Sorrowful meat - it intends the wishy-washy and disagreeable words of your friends, their doctrines, instructions, and exhortations they gave you, but were refused and rejected by you and which you before compares to unsavoury food, the white of an egg, or the spittle of a dreaming person, or the dribble of a fool.
It is wisdom not to use ourselves or our children to become nice and dainty about meat and drink, because we know not how they or we may be reduced, nor how that which we now disdain may be made acceptable by necessity.
Your friends’ comforts may be sapless and insipid. You complains you have nothing now offered to you for your relief that was proper for you, no cordial, nothing to revive and cheer your spirits; what they had afforded was in itself as tasteless as the white of an egg, and, when applied to you, as loathsome and burdensome as the most sorrowful meat.
Did you ever have to shake it off and find new friends? Sometimes G-d is closing the door to relationships to move you forward into another direction.]

Sloppy Agape
The word agape is the Greek word for love. There is nothing sloppy (careless, loose, lax) about true biblical love. James 5:19-20, Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. Did G-d love us this "sloppy agape" way? No, He sent Y’Shua to die for us that we might be forgiven and be set on the right path.
1 John 2:1, My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
Yes, our love will cause us to be patient and kind, bearing with the weak, doing others good, and not make hypocritical and hypercritical judgments. Agape is not sloppy!
Sloppy, trite arguments should be avoided not only because they are ineffective but because they encourage you to become a sloppy, trite thinker.
Think of the people whose analysis and judgment you most trust, the ones you consider to be sober and thorough thinkers. Now think of the people who are most prone to exaggeration and to making comments that amplify certain aspects out of proportion to reality.
Willfully Stupid
Find to be particularly useful in helping to avoid problems is to avoid, whenever possible, willfully stupid people. Intelligence is, of course, a relative concept and everyone (except for the World's Smartest Person) is just a little less bright than someone else.
Willful stupidity, however, is distinct from IQ because it consists of a moral failing: Choosing to be dumber than you have to be.
One way to recognize a willfully stupid person is to examine the role exaggeration plays in their speech-making.
A left-leaning progressives that such exaggerations are not meant to be taking seriously. When the person who makes them treats them as if it were a rational claim then it shows that they themselves are not worthy of being taken seriously.

HEART DISEASES:Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

Arrows of the Almighty
[Job 6:4] For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.
[A military image (Jug. 20:33). All the terrors which the divine wrath can muster are set in array against me (Isa. 42:13). Are like a numerous army, who invade me on every side. This was the sorest part of his calamity, wherein he was an eminent type of Messiah, who complained most of the sufferings of His soul:
1. Now is My soul troubled (Jn. 12:27).
2. My soul is exceeding sorrowful (Matt. 26:38).
3. My G-d, My G-d, why hast Thou forsaken me? (Matt. 27:46).
Indeed trouble of mind is the sorest trouble a wounded spirit who can bear.
Poor Job sadly complains here,
1. Of what he felt The arrows of the Almighty are within me. It was not so much the troubles themselves he was under that put him into this confusion, his poverty, disgrace, and bodily pain. But that which cut him to the heart and put him into this agitation, was to think that the G-d he loved and served had brought all this upon him and laid him under these marks of His displeasure. Trouble of mind is the sorest trouble. A wounded spirit who can bear! Whatever burden of affliction, in body or estate, G-d is pleased to lay upon us, we may well afford to submit to it as long as He continues to the use of our reason and the peace of our consciences; but, if in either of these we be disturbed, our case is sad indeed and very pitiable. The way to prevent G-d's fiery darts of trouble is with the shield of faith to quench Satan's fiery darts of temptation. He calls them the arrows of the Almighty; for it is an instance of the power of G-d above that of any man that He can with His arrows reach the soul. He that made the soul can make His sword to approach to it. The poison or heat of these arrows is said to drink up His spirit, because it disturbed his reason, shook his resolution, exhausted his vigor, and threatened his life; and therefore his passionate expressions, though they could not be justified, might be excused.
2. Of what he feared. He saw himself charged by the terrors of G-d, as by an army set in battle-array, and surrounded by them. G-d, by His terrors, fought against him. As he had no comfort when he retired inward into his own bosom, so he had none when he looked upward towards Heaven. He that used to be encouraged with the consolations of G-d not only wanted those, but also was amazed with the terrors of G-d.]
Have you been trouble of mind?
A wounded spirit?
Has the Father been trying to reach your soul?
Have you tried to submit your burdens to Him?
Let it go and submit to His will.

Leaves, flowers chop in a blender and let sit overnight in some water, strain and spray.
Ants - crush catnip, tansy and sprinkle on the ant trails
Aphid - tobacco
Beetles - nasturtium, rue,
Flies - equal parts of clover flowers, broken bay leaves, crushed clovers, and eucalyptus.
Tie in a small mesh bag and hang inside your doors.
Mites - pyrethrum
Mosquitoes - apply a little citronella oil on your skin.
To extend the oil, add 1/3 pure grain alcohol
Mix 3 parts of lavender oil to 1 part.
White fly - hyssop, larkspur, grey sanitarian
Pets - pillows for pets bed to rid of flees
Cats - dry equal parts of chamomile flowers and penny royal
Dogs - rue and cedar shavings
Toys for cats - dry catnip, strip leaves and crumble slightly, dry valerian root and grind.
Sassafras Squish - twigs used as chew sticks revive the mouth and massage the gums; they also make delicious toothbrushes.
Since this insecticide is made without preservatives, it is best to make it frequently in small amounts and use it up. If refrigerated, it will last 3 days to a week. Discard it if it appears moldy.
Crush 6 fresh sassafras leaves in a small clean bowl with a charcoal tablet (these are available at health food stores). You can substitute a small, clean piece of charred wood from the fireplace for the charcoal.
Bind the ingredients together with 1-2 Tbsp. of vegetable oil.
Dot the mixture on your forehead, nose, and around the mouth and ears and rub gently.
Allow it to sit on the skin reapplied frequently.
The ingredients are non-staining and will wash out readily if they get onto your clothes.

Gather Herbs
Only in dry weather, preferable when the plant is in full bloom or the seeds getting ripe. In the early morning when thoroughly dry and kept dry in heavy brown paper bags they well keep for years. Collect flowers and stems when the flow is beginning to open. Leaves to be dried are picked on a summery morning after the dew. To dry leaves - spread on paper on a cookie sheet in preheated oven 100 degrees, leaving oven door part way open. About 15 minutes or until leaves are dry and brittle, remove from oven and cool before storing.
Roots ought to be dug in the fall after the roots and leaves are dead or have come to maturity; or they should be dug before they start in the spring.
They ought to be washed immediately after they are dug, or not washed at all.
All roots, when cleaned, ought to be put in a place where they well dry soon.
They should not be placed in the sun, as soon as they are perfectly dry they ought to be pack away and kept from the air as much as possible

Dehydrating
Dehydrating without additives and preservatives:
Dehydration is a process, in which moisture is removed, and so the natural flavor is enhanced. Vegetables contain a certain amount of natural salt, and when moisture is removed, this salty taste too is intensified.
Fresh food is the best form of diet, still dehydrated is superior to can or frozen food, and it’s more flavorful than fresh.
Fruit when dried is infinitely sweeter, like candy.
The electricity needed to operate a dehydrator cost not much more than 1 cent and hour because of its low temperature. There is no pre blanching for it kills food value.
You can plant the seeds from a dehydrator tomato and it will germinate, sprout, and grow.
Dried foods have the same calories as fresh.
Buy honey in metal containers, if you need a sweetener, since this is usually honey sold in its natural state.
Baby food - puree fruits, vegetables or meat in a blender. Dry any left over into leather or fruit rolls. When you wish to use it, tear in pieces, put back in the blender with a little water or juice. Older babies enjoy chewing dried fruits, as it is it will reconstitute in their mouths.
Always dry at low temperatures 110 - 125.
20 lbs of tomato = # 10
8 lbs of herbs = # 1
5 lbs of green peppers = # 1
4 lbs of beef = # 1
4 lbs of bananas = 1 # 4 oz.
4 lbs of apples = # 1
Water blanching: Fill pot 2/3 full of water and bring to a rolling boil.
Place vegetables in a wire basket and submerge in water.
Bring to a boil before timing.
Steam blanching: A double boiler with a lid 2 inches of water on the bottom and bring to a rolling boil.
Layer vegetables on the top part no more then 2 inches deep.
Cover and steam.
Scalding: Immerse vegetables in boiling water for a few seconds to remove the skins.
Drying: Test if dried enough by taking apiece out and pressing it, it will have a distinct characteristic.
Strawberries feel spongy.
Apples are bendable and leathery for they dry crisper and break when bent.
Peas will powder when crushed in the blender.
Onions break.
Herbs crumble.
Taste taking a piece to taste. It should be dry to the palate. It should not possess pockets or noticeable moisture in the center.
Cut and squeeze taking a piece and cut it. There should be no moisture at the center. Take several pieces in your hand and squeeze together. No moisture should remain in your hand. The pieces should fall apart when released from your hand.
Some fruits such as figs, dates, cherries, raisins, and pears will always be slightly sticky even when dried, but they will not stick together.
Weight: Weigh it before you dry it then weigh it in the dried stage or weigh the trays.
Chart: It will give you a basis to determine dryness the next time you prepare another batch.
Slice food 1/8 inch for drying. If it gets thicker than 1/4 inch a blister may appear on the outside because the outside dried first and pulled away from the center.
At 110 - 118 it is almost impossible to over dry - so if in doubt - dry longer.
Storing: Take the food off the trays immediately when the machine is turn off before it picks up moisture in the air.
Seal tightly in jars or plastic bags with no air. Filling it as full as possible.
Only store the same type of food in each container.
For long term like years: use glass jars, or brown paper bags in a plastic container.
For short term about 2 months use plastic cooking bags and freezer containers.
Label: (example) Peaches from orchard. 2 lbs fresh.
Slice with peel 1/4 inch and dried 5-92 for 8 1/2 hours.
Keeping in a cool dark place will keep indefinably 50-80 degrees under a bed, closet ect.
Check in a few days then once a week up to 2 months. Look for moisture, shake to make sure it’s not sticking together.

De-blood
De-blood the meat:
The meat must be submerged in cold water for ½ hour. It is rinsed and sprinkled with a handful of cause salt and then placed on a grooved or perforated board for one hour, tilted so that additional blood will drain from the meat.
Roasts and steaks = cover meat in salt solution (1/4 cup of salt to 1 qt. of water).
Soak in the refrigerator for 10-12 hours.
Soak ground beef for 2 hours.
Pour off salt water and cover meat with plain distilled water.
In the refrigerator, allow meat to soak several hours longer than it did in salt water.
When blood is drawn out of meat into water, change water.
The ordinary Jewish family ate meat only once a week.

Dandelion
Collect dandelion leaves in early spring, when they're the tastiest, before the flowers appear. Harvest again in late fall. After a frost, their protective bitterness disappears. Dandelions growing in rich, moist soil, with the broadest leaves and largest roots, are the best. Select the youngest individuals, and avoid all plants with flowers. Some people eat the greens from spring to fall, when they're very bitter. Others boil out the summer bitterness (and water-soluble vitamins) out in two changes of water. It’s all a matter of preference.
Dandelion greens are wonderful in salads, sautéed or steamed. They taste like chicory and endive, with an intense heartiness overlying a bitter tinge.
People today shun bitter flavors—they’re so conditioned by overly sweet or salty processed food. But in earlier times, we distinguished between good and bad bitterness. Mixed with other flavors, as in a salad, dandelions improve the flavor.
I also love sautéing them for about 20 minutes with onions and garlic in olive oil, adding a little homemade wine before they're done. If you're not used to the slight bitterness, cook them with sweet vegetables, especially sliced carrots and parsnips. Boiling dandelions in one or more changes of water makes them milder—a good introduction if you're new to natural foods. Early spring is also the time for the crown—great sautéed, pickled, or in cooked vegetable dishes.
You can also eat dandelion flowers, or use them to make wine. Collect them in a sunny meadow, just before mid-spring, when the most flowers bloom. Some continue to flower right into the fall. Use only the flower’s yellow parts. The green sepals at the flower’s base are bitter.
The flowers add color, texture, and an unusual bittersweet flavor to salads. You can also sauté them, dip them in batter and fry them into fritters, or steam them with other vegetables. They have a meaty texture that contrasts with other lighter vegetables in a stir-fry dish or a casserole. Can make dandelion flower pickles, using vinegar and spices. The taproot is edible all year, but is best from late fall to early spring. Use it as a cooked vegetable, especially in soups. Large dandelions with huge roots growing on the bottom of a grassy hillside, they were only mildly bitter, so threw them into a potato stock. With the added scallions, tofu, ginger, carrots and miso, this became an excellent miso soup. Pre-boiling and changing the water, or long, slow simmering mellows this root, and sweet vegetables best complement dandelion roots. Sautéing the roots in olive oil also improves them, creating a robust flavor. A little Tamari soy sauce and onions complete this unusual vegetable side dish.
The leaves are more nutritious than anything you can buy. They're higher in beta-carotene than carrots. The iron and calcium content is phenomenal, greater than spinach. You also get vitamins B-1, B-2, B-5, B-6, B-12, C, E, P, and D, biotin, inositol, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and zinc by using a tasty, free vegetable that grows on virtually every lawn. The root contains the sugar inulin, plus many medicinal substances. Dandelion root is one of the safest and most popular herbal remedies. The specific name, officinal, means that It's used medicinally. The decoction is a traditional tonic. It’s supposed to strengthen the entire body, especially the liver and gallbladder, where it promotes the flow of bile, reduces inflammation of the bile duct, and helps get rid of gall stones. This is due to its taraxacin. It’s good for chronic hepatitis, it reduces liver swelling and jaundice, and it helps indigestion caused by insufficient bile. Don't use it with irritable stomach or bowel, or if you have an acute inflammation.
The modern French name for this plant is pissenlit (lit means bed) because the root and leaf tea act on the kidneys as a gentle diuretic, improving the way they cleanse the blood and recycle nutrients. Unlike pharmaceuticals diuretics, this doesn't leach potassium, a vital mineral, from the body. Improved general health and clear skin result from improved kidney function. One man I spoke to even claims he avoided surgery for urinary stones by using dandelion root tea alone.
Dandelions are also good for the bladder, spleen, pancreas, stomach and intestines. It’s recommended for stressed-out, internally sluggish, and sedentary people. Anyone who's a victim of excessive fat, white flour, and concentrated sweeteners could benefit from a daily cup of dandelion tea.
Dandelion root’s insulin is a sugar that doesn't elicit the rapid production of insulin, as refined sugars do. It helps mature-onset diabetes, and I used it as part of a holistic regime for hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
Dandelion leaf infusion also good at dinnertime for its bitter elements encourage the production of proper levels of hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes. All the digestive glands and organs respond to this herb’s stimulation. Even after the plant gets bitter, a strong infusion, is rich in vitamins and minerals, and helps people who are run-down. Even at its most bitter (Taraxacum come from Arabic and Persian, meaning "bitter herb"), it never becomes intolerably so, like golden seal and gentian.
The leaf’s white, milky sap removes warts, moles, pimples, calluses, and sores, and soothes bee stings and blisters.
Unlike most other seeds, dandelions’ can germinate without long periods of dormancy. To further increase reproductive efficiency, the plant has given up sex: The seeds can develop without cross-fertilization, so a flower can fertilize itself. This lets it foil the gardener by dispersing seeds as early as the day after the flower opens.

Canning
Pressure cooker is necessary in order to kill the botulism organisms that can survive unless food is heated from 240 to 250 degrees for specific time lengths. 240 is equivalent to 10 lbs of steam pressure.
Processing time at 10 lbs. of pressure (minutes):
Asparagus 25 pints 30 quarts
Carrots 25 pints 30 quarts
Corn 55 pints not recommended
Onions 25 pints 30 quarts
Potatoes 30 pints 40 quarts
Tomatoes 15 pints 20 quarts
Asparagus - 12 lbs yield 6 pint jars ‘stalk’ and 2 pint jars cut.
Beets - one bushel, by measure, cut in small thin slices yields 40 pint jars.
Cherries - 9 baskets yield 2 pint jars, pitted, or 7 pint jars whole.
Corn - 100 ears, yield an average of 14 pint jars.
Greens - 1 bushel, spinach, yields 10 pints jars. One bushel, dandelion, yields 13 pint jars.
Peaches - 2 and 1/4 lbs. yields 14 1 quart jars.
Peas - one bushel, pods well filled, yields 14 pint jars.
Pineapples - one-half crate, 15 pines, yields 30 pint jars.
Plums - one basket of 14 lbs. yields 25 pint jars.
Strawberries - one crate yields 26 pint jars canned or 31 glasses of jam - 7 1/2 ounce size.
String Beans - one bushel, by measure, yields 17 to 20 quart jars.
Tomatoes - 3 lbs. yield 1 quart jar.
Procedure:
In packing fruits for hot or cold pack canning, the product should be packed to within 1/2 inch of the top of the jar.
If using syrup on the product, fill jar with syrup to within 1 1/2 inches of top.
If using water or fruit juice, fill jar to within 1/2 inch of the top of the jar.
For open kettle canning, fill only one sterilized jar at a time with the boiling hot product and liquid to within 1/2 inch of the top of the jar and seal immediately.
1. Prepare puree and hot pack into sterilized jars.
2. Install rack and add 3 inches of water. Put on the cover, adjust or clamp. Let steam escape for 7-10 minutes.
3. Let pressure build up, adjust heat, and process for specific time.
4. Turn off heat and cool canner.
5. Remove jars from caner and adjust lids if necessary.
6. When the jars are completely cooled, check to see if the seal is complete.
7. Store in a cool, dark place.

Canning fruit without sugar - all fruit and fruit juices can be successfully canned in jars without sugar, but the addition of syrup at the time of canning helps to develop and improve the flavor of the fruit. When canning fruit without sugar the jar is filled to within 1/2 inch of the top with water or fruit juice and the jar cooked method (hot or cold pack) is recommended.

When using heat the concentrated and add an equal amount of milk, heat to simmering point.
