[Num. 4:7] And upon the table of shewbread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put thereon the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover withal: and the continual bread shall be thereon:
Cover withal - Meaning, to cover the bread.
Continual showbread - though the people were in the wilderness fed upon manna, the sacred loaves were constantly made of corn, which was probably raised in small quantities from the verdant patches of the desert.
7-8, 13 The Hebrews wrapped up the sacred furniture and utensils when they journeyed. All the precious things were wrapped in blue cloth, except two. The showbread with certain utensils was covered with a scarlet cloth, and the altar was covered with purple. Another time in Scripture were purple and scarlet are mysteriously linked was in the robe that Y’Shua wore before Pilate. When the Messiah, the Bread of life, was ready to be sacrificed for us on the great altar of G-d, others wrapped Him in scarlet and purple. The veil of the Temple was blue and purple and scarlet also.
So why was the bread and the altar wrapped in colors different from the others? They are all the colors of bruises, human suffering! Bruises are caused when tiny blood vessels are damaged or broken as the result of a blow to the skin. The raised area of a bump or bruise results from blood leaking from these injured blood vessels into the tissues as well as from the body's response to the injury, Bruises change in appearance over time and it is possible to tell by looking at a bruise how old it is. When it first appears, a bruise will be reddish, scarlet looking, reflecting the color of the blood in the skin.
By 1-2 days, the reddish iron from the blood undergoes a change and the bruise will appear blue or purple and a purplish, flat bruise that occurs when blood leaks out into the top layers of skin. In general, the body will repair the bruised area in 2-3 weeks after which the skin will return to normal. On occasion, instead of going away, the area of a bruise will become firm and may actually start increasing in size. It may also continue to be painful.
The Father knew we would have trials and tribulations, He never promise the going would be easy. But He is the Bread of life for us, and though His strips we are healed. He said His yoke was easy and His burden light. If we are not healed from our ‘bruises’ it is because we build up firm areas around it until, covering bruise after bruise it seems impossible to penetrate anymore. You have to come to a point of just letting go – yes you can do this if you keep your eyes on the Prize. Once through the healing process, it is where your blue, purple, scarlet bruises were that He will use you most to help others.

Y’Shua is the Bread of life. (Matt. 27:28; Mk. 15:17; Jn. 19:2).
