Pouring of the Spirit

The Feast of Weeks (Shavuos). We read that the flowers of Y’Shua were gathered in one accord when the house was filled with the mighty wind. This house may very well have been the Temple where the multitudes of Jews had gathered for the Feast of Pentecost.
Archaeological evidence has shown that a huge staircase led up to a platform, which opened on the main portico of the Temple. This platform area is thought to have been used as a gathering place and area for worshippers.
This may be where the supernatural events of Pentecost took place. The account mentions the whole place being shaken when the Holy Ghost fell upon the men and women gathered. This is similar to what happened at the dedication of the Temple as related in 2 Chron. 5:14.
The excavations of the Temple Mount have uncovered 48 ritual immersions pools (Mikvot) out of a possible 200. These pools were used by the thousands who came to participate in the Temple services, and may have been where the three thousand converts on the day of Pentecost were baptized in verse 41.
The Jewish Feast of Pentecost, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the believers gathered together on the day of this feast, provided the backdrop for Paul’s ministry to the Gentiles. Even as Peter’s sermon reached Jews from all areas of the known world who had gathered in Jerusalem, Paul’s ministry reached out from the Jews to the Gentiles all the way to heart of the Roman Empire, which was the ends of the earth for the ancient world.
The Biblical reference of Joel 2 – that is confirmed as being fulfilled in Acts 2:17-18 where G-d poured out His Spirit on all flesh, and sons and daughters prophesied gives credence to women participating in church functions.
